- TASTING NOTE/ABOUT THE WINE: "Here the expressive and slightly more elegant nose presents an array of white flowers, apple, pear and citrus confit. The finer but not denser middleweight flavors possess a sleek mouthfeel while offering very good length on the youthfully austere and chiseled finale that is just a bit more tightly wound. An aging curve of 5 to 8 years should see this quality effort at its apogee. Drink 2028+" Allen Meadows, Burghound

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Jean-Marc Blain married Claudine, daughter of Jacques Gagnard, to create this estate. He comes originally from Veaugues, close to Sancerre, but met Claudine while studying in Burgundy and rapidly defected. They have now been joined by son Marc-Antonin, who has also taken on one or two of the family vineyards in his own name. The domaine is 60 per cent white by vineyard ownership, but 70 per cent by wine production. The whites are attractively-made wines, good in the medium term but capable of ageing. The village Chassagne-Montrachet has the added bonus of containing a good proportion, up to a third, of premier cru grapes. Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
