- TASTING NOTE: Herbal, floral and fruity, with apple and pineapple notes. Noticeable salinity and green tea tannin grip. Skinsy but not too funky.
- ABOUT THE WINE: A field blend of almost all the white grapes in the Altenburger estate. The vines are between 3 and 45 years old, and most of them grow on limestone. After the harvest between the end of August and the beginning of September, half of them are destemmed and pressed after two days of maceration. The other half is fermented on the skins for two weeks, adding some excellent grip and color to the mix. They continue to ferment and age parts in oak and the other part in concrete eggs. After 17 months, it is ready to be bottled; with no filtration and a tiny bit of sulphur.
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: In 2006, Markus took over the family winery in Jois, and to this day solely focuses on the varieties that best express this unique terroir. He has 17 hectares which he manages organically (moving towards bio-dynamic) with all his wines produced from these vineyards. With great respect for this terroir, Markus Altenburger works as naturally as possible. Everything in the winery is done by hand with spontaneous fermentation without additives and very little sulphur used.
