- TASTING NOTE: "A muscat blend that comes from a patient and considered 20-year process. A 'wow' kind of moment with this wine. So rich, so concentrated, so dense and unctuous, yet a sense of lift and freshness alongside. The wine may stain the palate to infinity, but there's a levity here, too. Expect molasses, toffee, brown sugar and booze-soaked raisins as a start, with cinnamon-sugar-butter-toastiness in the mix, dried apple and dried orange peel, ginger snap biscuits, malt and mocha going on, too. The integration and balance are stellar here as well. A fantastic fortified wine." 96 Points - Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion
- ABOUT THE WINE: "This wine is part of our family story. We planted these brown muscat vines on our home and each vintage hand pick the semi-fried raisins that make just a few barrels of luscious wine. The wine is kept in old oak hogsheads for many tears to allow the spirit to mellow and the flavours to develop and become fabulously rich. As we age over the years so too will this wine, becoming deeper in colour, the aroma and flavour more intense. Liqueur wines have been made in the Swan Valley for over a hundred years. The hot summers are ideal for ripening the grapes until they reach over 50 percent sugar. These wines will age and improve in barrel and bottle for many, many years. This wine is a blend of our best vintages, the oldest being the first vintage. Every few years we make a new blend combining the richness of the very old wines with the freshness of younger vintages. Yet we always hold some back to ensure we have enough treasures to pass onto our children and them to theirs." Faber Vineyard

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Faber Vineyard was established in 1997 by John Griffiths and Jane Micallef. Faber is the Latin word for craft. We chose the name Faber because we believe winemaking is a craft, a skill learnt but never perfected. John Griffiths spent 10 years learning the skills of making highly drinkable wines in warm climates before arriving in the Swan Valley. He recognized that the Swan Valley was unique in its ability to produce delicate, refined white wines, smooth generously flavoured and long-lived red wines, and extremely rich luscious liqueur styles. As he refined his winemaking skills he learnt about the proven grape varieties and wine styles that had over one hundred years of development and success in the Swan Valley. The Swan Valley delivers wonderful ripe fruit, warm and concentrated flavours and soft tannins. John’s winemaking focuses on achieving flavour, extraction and fruit sweetness. This creates structured wines that are flavoursome and drinkable, with the ability to develop and improve in bottle. His approach to winemaking is simple and uncomplicated – starting with outstanding fruit quality, attention to detail, and literally hand making all our wines. John has chosen to embrace what are traditional varieties for the Swan Valley – Verdelho, Shiraz and Brown Muscat – as the “backbone” of Faber Vineyard. He has delivered his own interpretation of these varieties, all be it built on tradition, and set new standards of excellence. He has also innovated with new varieties, introducing Petit Verdot to the Swan, and new styles including his Chardonnay Blanc de Blanc. He has sourced outstanding fruit from outside the Swan Valley that complements the Swan’s strengths. Superb Cabernet Sauvignon from Frankland River and unique Durif from Donnybrook stand out. Faber’s continuing winemaking quest is to grow and source distinctive grapes and craft wines that are rich and flavoursome. Faber Vineyard
