- TASTING NOTE: A benchmark Verdejo from Rueda, Spain, this wine presents a rich texture and full body. It is balanced by refreshing acidity and complex minerality.
- ABOUT THE WINE: This wine is produced from old vines, replanted in the 1970s on the original vineyard - El Pago de Martínsancho - established in the 1850s, after which the wine is named. The vineyard is bush-trained using traditional methods. The high altitude of the region allows the Verdejo to fully ripen, resulting in a gentler, more textured expression while preserving its natural acidity. The grapes are hand-harvested, gently pressed, and naturally fermented before being matured in large 5,000L oak casks. Extended lees contact enhances the wine’s texture. Maturation takes place in an underground cellar maintained at around 10°C. Minimal sulphites are added.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Angel Rodrigo Vidal has a unique mission in viticulture: to restore and promote the indigenous Verdejo grape. His work on the restoration of pre-phylloxeric vineyards and genetic material at El Pago de Martínsancho has been instrumental. He was awarded the Cross of the Civil Order of Agricultural Merit by King Juan Carlos. Moreover, he is one of the founders and key promoters of the DO Rueda. His viticulture philosophy is closely aligned with the rhythms of nature, and his vineyards are organically certified.

A: Yes if they have your receipt. However all alcohol orders must be picked up by an individual 18 year or older. Proof of age and sobriety are required as per RSA regulation.
