- TASTING NOTE: "Complex and youthful with a seductive and alluring and complete bouquet with scents of ripe white fleshed tree fruits, crushed raw cashew nut, a mix of yellow fleshed stone fruit and layers of lees spices, wild flowers and white smoke of oak and soil. The youth and tautness touches the palate briefly before a satin touch and flavours of citrus and tree fruits follow. As the wine opens out across the palate and gains warmth flavours of peach and soil, flowers and fine chalky textures with a lees complexity and mineral core. - ABOUT THE WINE: Hand harvested, dry grown Mendoza clone Chardonnay. 100% whole bunch pressed, wild ferment in French oak barrels, 15% new. 10 month of full lees, monthly battonage until completion of malo. Further ageing on fine lees for 3 months in tank. Unfined, coarse filtration.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: When Tim and Judy Finn planted the first vines at Neudorf in ’78, there were only a handful of other producers in Nelson. Almost 50 years on, they’re still regarded as one of the best wineries in the region – and the country, too. With Tim and Jude now retired, their daughter Rosie looks after sales and marketing, and general manager and winemaker Todd Stevens heads up production, working alongside viticulturist Stef Brockley to craft chardonnay, pinot noir, albariño and aromatics including riesling and pinot gris, from their organic, dry-grown, old-vine vineyard in the Moutere Hills. The site, with its ancient clay gravels and sandy loams, cool, maritime climate and plenty of sunshine, produces exceptional fruit, and Todd’s winemaking approach is simple: “To guide the grapes into wine of integrity, without buggering it up.” The resulting wines are textural, finessed, elegant and pure. A: Yes if they have your receipt. However all alcohol orders must be picked up by an individual 18 year or older. Proof of age and sobriety are required as per RSA regulation.
