- TASTING NOTE / ABOUT THE WINE: "Displays impressive depth and concentration for this level, with its plum and currant fruit, cigar leaf and smoke notes, and a charmingly rustic edge. The texture is dense, with firm tannins and a long finish. The grapes are blended from various sites, with an average vine age of 60 years and represent 2ha of surface in total. The grapes are destemmed and gently fermented, primarily by pumping over, before ageing in cask for one year. This will drink on release but is suited to mid-term cellaring as well." 92 Points - Charles Curtis MW, Decanter

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: There is a family tree at the domaine showing the Raquillets going back over the centuries. When François - the 11th generation - took over from his father, he reduced yields significantly, built up a good barrel-cellar and started to bottle all his production. He has also sold his Puillets vineyard to the Château de Santenay while adding more white-wine land, notably La Brigadière. The reds are well extracted, with good colour, a solid grounding in oak (typically 30 per cent) and the ability to age. Les Naugues has typically been my favourite premier cru in this cellar. Their daughter Jeanne joined her parents in 2018. Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
