- TASTING NOTE: “A fresh and clean gamay with some cherry and floral character. Hints of bubblegum in a fun way. Light to medium body. Crisp. Crunchy and delicious. Drink now.” 91 Points - JamesSuckling.com
- ABOUT THE WINE: A single vineyard wine from Te Mata Estate’s Woodthorpe Vineyard planted in 1995. Around half of the wine was produced with carbonic maceration, the rest via a traditional red wine fermentation. The resulting wines completed their malolactic fermentation and were matured for eight weeks in seasoned French oak barrels, before blending and bottling.
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Te Mata Estate was originally part of Te Mata Station, a large pastoral land-holding established in 1854. In 1892 vines were on three parcels of hillside land above the homestead and began converting the original stables to ferment and mature these first Te Mata Estate Wines. Today, Te Mata Estate still uses those same three vineyards. Te Mata Vineyards was acquired by the Buck and Morris families in 1974 – the two families behind the modern interpretation of this historic New Zealand estate. Te Mata is considered one of the New World's great estates, with their Coleraine Cabernet blend rivalling the great wines of Bordeaux in quality and prestige.
