- TASTING NOTE: "While white is not on the label, it’s better known as that. The label states pinot gris, viognier, etc., and the 'etc.' is Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. Lots of texture, lovely phenolics, with layers of flavour from quince, yellow peach and pear skins to dabs of Turkish delight. It is a delight with ginger spice and mouth-watering acidity. - ABOUT THE WINE: All varieties were allowed to ripen to an extent where they express the full array of ripe flavours. After the hand harvest, the variety is gently pressed to extract juice for fermentation in 600lt demi muid oak and 400lt ceramic eggs. Some intact bunches are added to the Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc egg ferments to infuse wild berry skin and green mango skin notes into the developing wines. Each variety remains in the same vessels for ten months, with occasional stirring to suspend yeast lees, build texture, and freshen the maturing wine. The wine was minimally fined after blending, filtered, and bottled in late December 2022.
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Stuart Pym's winemaking career commenced more than 30 years ago when he moved to Margaret River to help his parents produce with their new wine label Sussex Vale. This vineyard has since become the well-respected Hayshed Hill. His winemaking experience includes some of Margaret River’s best loved names including Voyager Estate (1991-2000), Devil’s Lair (2000-2008) and Stella Bella (2008-2013). With his partner Janice, Stuart started Suckfizzle in 1996 and Stella Bella in 1999. In 2013 he handed over the Stella Bella winemaking reins and moved to Flowstone in a permanent capacity.
