- ABOUT THE WINE: This is grown at Leongatha South, South Gippsland, Victoria. Bass Phillip uses close planting, extremely low cropping, no toxic chemicals and natural winemaking. We respect the forces of nature, driven by the Moon, the Planets, and the Earth. This wine always has intensity, full natural acidity and great length. It will develop over the next eight years plus. Normally Estate chardonnay was matured in approximately 20% new oak. It has aromas of Lifted citrus & stone fruit. Well balanced, vibrant fruit and great acid structure. - ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Phillip Jones handcrafted tiny quantities of superlative pinot noir which, at its best, had no equal in Australia. Painstaking site selection, ultra-close vine spacing and the very cool climate of South Gippsland are the keys to the magic of Bass Phillip and its eerily burgundian pinots. One of Australia’s greatest small producers, it's been heading down a new path since Jones sold the assets (winery, stock and 14ha of vineyards) in May '20 to a syndicate led by Burgundian winemaker Jean-Marie Fourrier (who has known Jones for 14 years) and 2 Singaporeans who already have lucrative wine businesses. A: Yes if they have your receipt. However all alcohol orders must be picked up by an individual 18 year or older. Proof of age and sobriety are required as per RSA regulation.
