  • TASTING NOTE: "Fine pale lemon and lime. What a beautifully gracious nose, this is sheer class. All in white fruit with an engaging ripeness, more detail than Combettes, perhaps more weight than Folatières. Quite muscular for Pucelles. An explosion of fruit on the palate, almost too much to take in but there is nothing vulgar here, just the quintessence of Pucelles. Very long indeed, this is really just a babe in arms." 96-97 POINTS - JASPER MORRIS, INSIDE BURGUNDY
  • ABOUT THE WINE: Fruit is sourced from three plots grown in clay-limestone soils in the 1er Cru Les Pucelles - Le Clos Du Meix planted in 1981 and 1985; La Grande" planted in 1954, 1957, 1958, 1961 and 1963; and La Petite planted in 1969. Hand picked grapes undergo a long and gentle pneumatic pressing and are settled then decanted to barrel for fermentation, 22% of which are new (maxi 1/3 Vosges, mini 2/3 Allier). After 12 months in barrels, the wine is aged for 6 months in vats where it is prepared for bottling. Homeopathic fining and very light filtration if necessary.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: The Leflaive family have been in Puligny since 1717 but the real founder of the Domaine was Joseph (1870-1953) who was succeeded by two of his sons, Vincent and Jo. Vincent's wines in the 1970's achieved legendary status, though there was a slight dip in quality after his reign. The Domaine returned to prominence under the stewardship of Anne-Claude, and her winemaker collaborator Pierre Morey. Between 1990 and 2015 that the Domaine became a leader in Burgundy’s biodynamic movement, the whole property being converted in 1997. Anne-Claude passed away suddenly in 2015 and her cousin, Brice de la Morandiere, took control of the business. He has further refined the wines introducing Diam cork across the range and bringing the winemaking into one facility. Eric Remy succeeded Pierre Morey in 2008 and Pierre Vincent took the winemaking reigns from him in 2017.
