- TASTING NOTE: Get this is a decanter early, it needs a bit of air to bring it's marvelous fruit expression to the fore. A rustic, dusty mouthfeel and gritty tannin are wrapped around lovely characters of fleshy dark red fruits, sweet spice and leather and is tied together with a fresh acid line.
- ABOUT THE WINE: 'Campi Raudii’ is one of the ancient Latin names for Alto- Piedmont, which roughly translates as ‘red fields’ referring to the colour of the volcanic soils. Handpicked fruit is sourced from organically managed vineyards. This table wine of the Vallana range is fermented and aged in concrete.
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Francis Vallana represents the 5th generation of winemakers at this historic estate in Maggiora, Alto-Piedmont. His grandfather Bernardo put the Vallana wines on the world stage, producing classic, long lived bottlings of Spanna in the 1950-1970's. The Vallana family explains, Spanna, the local name for Nebbiolo, is a grape of terroir. Here, at the base of the Alps, at the foot of Monte Rosa, where the Mediterranean and Continental climates meet, Alto Piemonte takes on a charming and highly aromatic character. Alto Piemonte has volcanic, acidic soils, rather than the alkaline soils of the Langhe, giving the wine its acid backbone and ultimately the structure and character that adds to the age ability. Vineyard practices are organic, without certification, and winemaking is very traditional with most fermentations and ageing done in ancient botti grande.

A: Yes if they have your receipt. However all alcohol orders must be picked up by an individual 18 year or older. Proof of age and sobriety are required as per RSA regulation.
